Mission Statement
The purpose of the Massachusetts Congress of Lake and
Pond Associations, Inc. is to preserve, protect, maintain and enhance
the environmental, aesthetic, recreational and economic values of lakes
and ponds, and to promote watershed management, within the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts.

Promote the formation of lake and pond associations.

Promote the control of nuisance aquatic vegetation and species.

What is COLAP?
COLAP is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the aesthetic,
recreational, and commercial values of lakes and ponds, through maintenance
and improvement of such environmental factors as:

Water Quality;

Lake Water Levels;
-
Watershed Ecology;
-
Water & Boating Safety;
-
Agricultural Soil Practices;
-
Shoreline Woodland Management;
-
Residential Building Standards;
-
Forming of Lake & Pond Associations;
as well as the promotion and development of environmental quality standards
essential for satisfactory life styles and conditions in the natural community.

Who can be a member of COLAP?
COLAP welcomes any and all people and organizations to become members,
including lake and pond associations, water oriented conservation groups,
private corporations, governmental agencies, and individuals.

Does COLAP accept gifts?
Donations are welcome and, since COLAP is a non-profit organization, your
donations are tax deductible. Gifts in cash are used to provide educational
workshops to individuals and organizations professing an interest in a
specialized area of conservation activity. In-kind services are also welcome.

members. Additionally, there is a volunteer Executive Committee and
a paid part-time Executive Director.

What can COLAP do for Me?

You can obtain educational information at one of the various workshops
held throughout Massachusetts.

You can meet with various representatives from over 3000 Massachusetts
ponds and lakes and learn about their special ecological features.
